Dirk is the author of two academic and three public-facing books, both fiction and nonfiction. His well-received and long-selling titles have been released by major publishing houses in Germany and Austria. To find out more about Dirk’s books, visit this page.

As a magazine writer, Dirk regularly contributes a design column to the journal Pop. Kultur und Kritik. His articles also appeared in well-known magazines and newspapers, such as the Frankfurter Allgemeine.

Radio

In addition to his book writing, Dirk is a regular contributor to German public radio’s cultural program. Since 2011 he authored and presented more than 150 book reviews and interviews in various radio shows, mostly aired by the West German Broadcasting Network (WDR). For example, he recently portrayed Barbara Koehler and Angela Krauss, two writers whose works explore connections between texts and places in an aesthetically convincing way.

Blog & Newsletter

Between 2013 and 2023, Dirk sent out his popular newsletter INVENTUR. In 2024, he decided to start a new one written in English. It’s called Unregistered and observes a rapidly changing world through the lens of everyday life. You can find it on Substack and subscribe here.
